Job description
Join our team at Rainforest Foundation Norway as a Senior International Controller within the Finance unit! We are seeking a skilled individual to lead our efforts in ensuring compliance with donors' financial requirements within one of our designated countries/regions. Reporting directly to the Team Leader Finance, you'll play a pivotal role in financial management and reporting, supporting our mission to make a global impact. With a close collaboration with the International Department in the supervision and follow up of our international partners, this role offers exciting opportunities for global engagement.
The Finance unit consists of 7 employees and is situated at RFN's headquarters in Oslo. Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a geographic project portfolio (e.g., Indonesia, Brazil, or Peru/Colombia) and serve as the backup for other geographic areas.
- Supervise budgeting and reporting processes, providing input, processing, and follow-up.
- Participate in partner assessments, supervision, research, and analysis using RFN's Partner Assessment Tool (PAT), including travel to provide guidance to implementing partners.
- Communicate donor requirements to budget and reporting teams.
- Support RFN budget holders and those responsible for financial risk management in actively managing budgets, ensuring accountability and compliance, and minimizing financial and economic risks.
- Prepare and oversee annual and periodic financial reporting aligned with corresponding results reporting.
- Manage financial risks, including controlling and finance-related whistleblowing and case management, and prepare for and support external financial audits.
- Coordinate internally with the Finance team, Finance Advisors, Grant Managers, project owners, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with financial management objectives.
- Assume multidisciplinary responsibilities, such as consolidation within larger donor contracts, methodology development, or other areas as needed.
Desired Qualifications:
- Relevant higher education in finance, accountancy, or a related field (typically a master's degree, with a minimum of a bachelor's degree); relevant experience may compensate for formal education.
- Minimum 5 years of working experience within financial controlling or similar field.
- Experience with and understanding of financial management challenges in NGOs and partner organizations.
- High-level understanding of leading innovation in financial management systems and processes.
- Strong proficiency in financial management, budgeting, and reporting.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to research and resolve accounting discrepancies.
- Language skills: Fluency in English and Norwegian; proficiency in rainforest country languages is advantageous.
- Computer/Digital skills: Proficiency in Excel/MS Office and preferably One Stop Reporting (or similar reporting tools); familiarity with Visma.net accounting software and project management tools is a plus.
