Job description
Shell Energy is building a global integrated power business in key regions – leveraging capabilities across the full generation, trading, and marketing value chain – selectively pursuing focused opportunities in market segments where we bring a clear competitive advantage. We aspire to build a profitable business that supports the decarbonization of our customers, Shell, and society through diligent focus on performance, discipline, simplification, and integration, and applying a value over volume approach.
In the Americas region, the Offshore Power Americas Team is responsible for regional growth and the delivery of the offshore wind portfolio in North and South America and the onshore renewables portfolio in Latin America. In the US, Shell currently holds material equity positions in offshore wind and coordinated transmission ventures along the Atlantic seaboard and aspires to build on existing positions to integrate with non-regulated markets over time. In Brazil, Shell currently manages a portfolio funnel that includes onshore solar and wind opportunities – maintaining line of sight to potential future opportunities in offshore wind – progressing development, maintaining close links to power trading and marketing, and ensuring future portfolio optionality.
What is the role?
This role is the Wind Developer for Latin America (LATAM), overseeing the origination, assessment, and support of large-scale renewable power projects, focusing mainly on wind and with potential expansion to other technologies (e.g., solar, storage).
Accountabilities:
- Serves as core member of the integrated Project Delivery Team (PLT) with cross-functional representation and assists the Head of Renewables LATAM by originating, assessing, and supporting large-scale renewable power projects, focusing on onshore solar and wind. In the future it might be expanded to other technologies (e.g., Offshore Wind).
- Accountable for project development, including permitting, interconnection, and regulatory milestones, requiring coordination with various teams.
- Drives development of efficient greenfield development processes and tools – encompassing permitting, community engagement, and interconnection for renewable assets.
- Responsible for project scheduling, budget management, and resource allocation.
- Collaborates with Shell internal groups including finance, legal, corporate development, yield/engineers, real estate, strategy, contracts and procurement, ethics and compliance, and Shell Energy to support development activities for RG Brazil projects.
- Responsible for identifying suitable locations for project development, adhering to the portfolio strategy, and maximizing financial metrics.
- Provides support and guidance for land negotiation with the Real Estate team.
- Updates project assumptions and manages the financial model alongside all development teams.
- Organizes project data rooms and facilitating due diligence processes.
- Supports negotiation of condition precedents for project acquisitions.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
- Assists in defining assumptions for the Portfolio strategy plan.
What we need from you?
- Credible Energy Industry Professional with 5-8 years of experience supporting capital projects in Renewable Power
- Must have legal authorization to work in Brazil on a full-time basis
- Strong network within the utility-scale renewable power generation sector
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work well under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
- Proven track record of successfully delivering greenfield utility-scale solar or wind projects up to the construction phase
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage projects, meet deadlines, adapt to challenges, and consistently deliver high-quality results
- Extensive knowledge of various project development aspects including regulatory frameworks for renewable projects, key project assumptions and their impact on financial metrics, solar technology, interconnection processes
