Supplier Quality Engineer - Coating Specialist

This position is responsible for controlling the Quality of Game Change Solar’s products and its subassemblies, manufactured worldwide. Position is responsible for actively driving the quality control processes with suppliers and vendors of Game Change Solar worldwide, with a focus on galvanic coatings, including Magni and clear coat on top of galv.
Supplier Quality Engineer - Coating Specialist Responsibilities:
- In Quality Engineer – Coating Specialist position, take the defined responsibility of Raw material, In-process, Out-going quality,
- Coating analysis from failed product in the field
- Execution of Quality Plans of GCS worldwide
- perform, attend or witness the quality inspections at supplier’s place as defined by quality manager
- Quality Resource control: Plan, monitor and get work done from TPI, measurement systems, equipment’s, tools and fixtures to execute quality plans.
- Drive process improvements & Implement Quality tools.
- Analyze quality issues, do root cause analysis and trouble shoot quality related issues and develop sustainable actions & ensure implementation
- Ability to audit vendors apply coatings (application, maintenance, detection techniques)
- Interact with international/local suppliers, labs etc directly on quality/coating issues
- Prepare and/or approve Quality documentations like FAI, Lab Analysis Presentations, Site analysis reports – help for quick quality decisions
- Develop relationships with labs and vendors in emerging markets (Brazil, Europe, South Africa, Australia)
- Help the reporting manager to decide on the inspection and testing parameters, resources and methods
- Do Continuous Quality improvement through 8D, 7QC, MSA and SPC tools, CP CPk studies.
- Bring continuous focus on problem solving and improving process controls
- Implement product & process audits - Navigate the quality audits with team, identify NCs and closure of the open-ended elements
- Train the Inspectors and operators on Quality – extend training support to suppliers
- Learn industry best practices, identify the opportunities for improvements and implement it in own area
- Get involved in Daily Management and proactively reduce the risk to Quality & Delivery by working on resolving potential issues with along cross functional teams.
FUNCTIONAL COMPETENCIES:
- Sound knowledge of Quality standards like ASTM A653, ASTM A123, ASTM A780, Magni 565, SSPC standards
- Strong technical knowledge of corrosion and rust prevention
- Knowledge of how to properly use a dry film thickness meter
- Ability to understand drawings & coatings and execute inspection methodology and preparation of quality documents.
- Implementing error-proofing techniques- Poke-Yoke
- Data Collection and basic analytical skills
Supplier Quality Engineer Coating Specialist Qualification/Requirements:
- B.E. with 3+ years of Material/Mechanical/Production engineering, Min. 2 years of galvanic coating experience mandatory. NACE certification preferred.
- Experience in Rolling, Sheet metal working, Assembly, Manufacturing, Machining and Galvanization, etc - preferably from industry which makes Steel/Structural – mechanical products (Module mounting structure, electrical towers, etc) will be an added advantage
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Manager, Operations, Engineering, Supply chain, Planning, Buyers and Logistics teams, etc.

- Strong analytical ability with data reasoning and detail orientation
- Results oriented – must deliver results & have sense of urgency to deliver on time
- Collaboration – ability to work in cross-functional teams for achievement of objectives
- Functional excellence – Passion for Quality, must possess the necessary functional and working know-how
Job Type: Full-time
Location: Norwalk, CT 1 day per week, remote at other times and 25%-50% travel
Salary: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
