Main responsibilities
- Serve as the legal contact for assigned business units and support functions, acting as legal reviewer for private and public contracts, as well as collaborating with other practice areas and functions relating to the assigned business units.
- Draft and answer notices and letters to/from private and public costumers.
- Act as a partner to the business in considering, developing and executing initiatives relating to such business units and support functions.
- Manage the review and negotiation of certain contracts and amendments relating to the relevant business units and support functions.The candidate must be flexible enough to manage multiple subject matter issues across diverse areas of the company, taking the initiative to identify appropriate subject matter experts and coordinating overall review.
- Work with clients to assist them with adherence to Sanofi’s policies, understand legislative developments that may impact our business, and work through direct and indirect management of both internal and external resources. This requires a high degree of organizational skill and focus on detail.
- The Mid-Level Lawyer operates with limited supervision, and therefore requires a high level of balanced judgment and an ability to independently discern and establish priorities. Agility and willingness to learn about various subject matters (both from a legal and business perspective) are highly valued. Ability to identify potential legal issues (focusing on business units initiatives and regulatory issues) as well as proposed solutions to mitigate risk is required.
- Work in civil and administrative litigation matters and lawsuits, managing and interacting with external law firms, discussing strategies, reviewing complaints, petitions and appeals, proposing settlements when appropriate.
- Know when to escalate issues internally and with outside counsel.
- Maintain the knowledge and comply with the principles of Ethics and Integrity, Sanofi's policies and codes of conduct that regulate the pharmaceutical market.
- Comply with and promote Sanofi's Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policies, with the objective of preventing accidents from occurring, avoiding health risks, promoting the well-being of employees and reducing the environmental impacts resulted from the execution of activities of work.
- Support Sanofi's Diversity and Inclusion strategy and initiatives to ensure that all employees and partners are treated with respect and are given equal opportunities.
About you
To be successful in this position, we need candidates with the following requirements:
- Meets local legal license requirements (OAB)
- 4+ years of experience as an in-house lawyer and/or law firm
- Language: English (advanced)
- Postgraduation (preferably in Contracts or Civil Procedure Law)
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Team player with a commitment to developing strong collaborative relationships with legal colleagues, clients and cross-functional teams
- Demonstrated ability to understand legal principles and compliance, as well as business requirements
- Commitment to proactively identifying opportunities for improvement and engaging with appropriate stakeholders to propose solutions
- Solutions and business – oriented
- Self-motivated, able to work independently, reliable, responsive, and accountable to deliver results
- High level of professionalism; strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle multiple responsibilities and priorities simultaneously and still meet high quality and timeliness standards
- Willingness to flex job responsibilities and learn new areas
- Sound judgment and commitment to ethical conduct.
