Position: Sr. Turbo Machinery Engineer
Reports to: Mechanic Maintenance Lead
Purpose of the Role:
The Turbomachinery Specialist will be responsible for supporting the offshore team on daily activities and troubleshooting, as well as managing and coordinating all the turbomachinery packages (turboalternators and turbocompressors) on all assets. He or she will also oversee and execute mid/long term projects, such as preparing and conducting overhauls (core engine replacements, compressors overhauls, auxiliaries upgrade, etc.), estimating and monitoring contracts and budgets, and developing and optimizing maintenance plans. The Turbomachinery Specialist will have to use his or her knowledge and experience to ensure the optimal performance and reliability of the turbomachinery equipment.
The Turbomachinery Specialist needs to have knowledge of the following equipment: Gas Turbines type NUOVO PIGNONE PGT5, SOLAR TAURUS 60, HISPANO SUIZA THM 1304-10 and turbo alternators. He or she must also have a basic understanding of instrumentation, mechanical parts and electrical parts related to the turbomachinery package and auxiliaries.
Turbomachinery specialist is the referent for the package and auxillairies. He must have a minimum of understanding of instrumentation, mechanical parts and electrical parts.
The Turbomachinery Specialist will have to regularly visit the sites to work closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and EI Supervisor and provide them with the best possible assistance. He or she will also have to adjust the planning, task list and chronograms of major projects according to the site conditions and requirements.
The Turbomachinery Specialist will work in close contact with the contractors in place (SOLAR, TME Engenheria, MAN Turbo) and ensure effective communication and collaboration with them.
Job Function:
• Contribute to the reporting to Maintenance manager for turbomachineries, including site critical activities, performance monitoring and work program progress versus plan on upgrade projects and overhaul.
• Responsible for leading the development and continuous improvement of the Maintenance philosophy, with the objective of guaranteeing the integrity of the rotating equipment and the production capacity throughout the life cycle of the assets.
• Technically support the operations area for maintenance and performance evaluation of the main turbomachinries equipment of platforms such as gas turbines, gas compressors and auxillaries of the package.
• Responsible for ensuring the consistent implementation of the Procedures for Operation, Training and Maintenance of the turbomachineries of the platforms.
• Responsible for interfacing with the manufacturers of the main equipment of platforms.
• Technical support to buyers in relation to quotes, specifications and possible suppliers for the main activities related to equipment and maintenance in general.
• Ensure equipment overhaul quality in suppliers through workshop visits during the repair phase as well as being able to witness performance and acceptance tests at the workshop site.
• Elaborate technical description for hiring of services or purchase of materials / equipment related to maintenance activities.
• Develop positive and constructive relationships with contractors and suppliers. Identify opportunities to improve contractor/supplier performance, reduce costs and improve the quality of services/products supplied.
• Prepare scopes of work and manage simple modifications ensuring they are correctly engineered, documented and reported and that all maintenance activities/modifications are implemented in accordance with standards and regulation and correctly closed-out within schedule and budget.
• Analyze and define the best maintenance strategy.
Qualification & Experience:
• BSc. in Mechanical Engineering
• Master in Field Engineering is a plus.
• English & Portuguese fluent.
• Good knowledge of maintenance methods (RCM, particularly machinery monitoring) and CMMS (SAP) and Inventory Management.
• Proven experience in turbomachinery.
