The Production Supervisor is the leader and coordinator of Armstrong’s production teams. He/she will lead all continuous improvement initiatives, promoting safety, quality, on-time delivery, customer satisfaction and cost attainment. The Production Supervisor is responsible for the achievement of production goals, managing capacity, and the overall cost effectiveness of the production operation. The Production Supervisor will be responsible for assisting in all operational tasks within the facility as delegated and assigned by the Operations Manager.
In addition to annual initiatives, the key accountabilities of this position are:
Main Job Accountability
- Promote a Lean, continuous improvement culture focused on meeting customer expectations of perfect quality and on-time delivery.
- Promote and maintain a safe work environment, coordinate safe inspections/safe operations/equipment and maintain inspections.
- Leads production Flip Chart meetings.Engages production personnel and promotes information sharing and communication.
- Reviews and monitors production capacity.Identifies areas of concern, determines root cause and takes necessary corrective action.
- Reviews manufacturing variances (labor, budget, etc.).Develops solutions to eliminate said variances.Leads/ manages solution implementation.
- Reviews and manages manufacturing effectivity which includes both operational efficiency and labor utilization.Identifies areas of concern, determines root cause and takes necessary corrective action.
- Manages the production cost centers.Reviews and approves requisitions for manufacturing expenses and over time.
- Promotes improved teamwork between departments and cross utilization of labor.
- Prepares production schedules and manages labor reports and production demand to approve headcount recommendations.
- Organizes and executes production improvement initiatives with the input from production personnel, engineering and operations leadership.
- Maintain consistent employee expectations based on Armstrong policies.Reward and/or discipline employees accordingly based on performance.
- Works with peers as a member of the Operations Leadership team to meet overall operations goals.
- Leads and/or actively participates in analyzing cost for new product introductions and/ or manufacturing projects.
- Develops any recommendations for improvements in layouts, equipment, and in manufacturing methods.Leads and/or oversees the implementation and completion of these changes.
- Monitors and manages employee training (compliance, cross-training, and safety etc.)
- Assist Operations Manager with developing, managing and achieving operational KPIs.
- Provides accurate production forecasts to Sales and Finance
- Works closely to Sales in order to reduce delivery times and cost of finished goods that help to increase competitiveness and profitability.
Role Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other technical discipline certification.
- 5 – 7 years experience in manufacturing
- 3 – 5 years of supervisory/management/ team leadership experience
- Strong, team-oriented leadership skills with presence and a bias for action.
- Planning and scheduling experience.
- Experience working with cross functional teams that include engineering, materials management, quality, purchasing, HR, finance, and logistics in an industrial environment.
- Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Strong demonstrated knowledge of principles and practices
- Creative problem-solving and conflict management experience preferably within different organizations (centralized and matrix organizational structures)
- The ability to break down complex problems in a simplified way, conduct root cause analysis, provide clear direction, and lead solution implementation.
- Self-directed with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively while focusing on results.
- Must be a self started with the ability to multitask.
- Ability to communicate in an open and authentic manner in all situations.
- Experience preparing information and presenting to audiences at all levels of the organization.
- Fluency in English (Written and spoken)
- Strong hands-on experience with an ERP system such as LN 10.7, Oracle, SAP or other.
- Strong knowledge in local NR (regulatory standards for safety).
- Strong hands-on Excel experience – analytics.
