Job Title: Windows Engineer
(Note: We are hiring for all three levels: Senior, Lead & Staff)
Job Details:
The Engineer of Windows Servers is a hands-on engineering role responsible Windows Server Operating Systems including a strong understanding of technical architecture and architecture of component/software service platforms. This role is responsible for coordinating Windows Server OS Patching and ensuring Windows Servers are properly monitored and maintained. In addition, a combination of business process, technology expertise is required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to architect and engineer Microsoft Windows solutions that are robust but cost effective.
- Engage in Incident, Problem & Change Management functions.
- Ensure Windows Servers are monitored properly and are healthy.
- Coordinate Windows Server OS Patching to ensure Compliance
- Minimize Windows Server Configuration drift, to drive a more consistent and reliable OS that is easier to manage
- Deploy and upgrade software Agents
- Partner with the business to understand their needs and to minimize impact due to changes.
- Investigate emerging technologies, new engineering techniques, and leverage opportunities that drive continuous improvement of the service, its use in solutions, and how the service interoperates with other services.
- Review and revise documentation on solutions, technical requirements, components, and APIs.
- Create and maintain regulatory documentation such as SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures), WIs (Work Instructions), STDs (Standards), GDLs (Guidelines), etc.
- Interact with cross functional teams, including Enterprise Architecture, to ensure complete delivery of solutions.
- Collaborate and integrate with engineering services and platforms.
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with vendors and strategic external partners.
- Creates opportunities for efficiency through innovative strategic decisions balancing cost and quality.
- Delivers high quality work outcomes and customer service in a high-pressure, fast-paced setting to meet company needs.
- Partner with external service providers to provide talent and services to drive high standards
- Drive innovation through automation of services and capabilities
Qualifications:
- BA/BS required and degree in STEM field preferred
- 5+ years of relevant technology experience
- Demonstrated hands-on Windows Engineering/Operations experience
- Demonstrated architecture experience in designing Windows server solutions
- Outstanding employee relations skills.
- The ability to work collaboratively with a variety of teams.
- Proven track record of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment and prioritize in parallel.
- Customer service orientation, eye for business value, and a bias for action.
- Expert at working with virtual, and diverse global teams of varied backgrounds and cultural experiences.
- Exercises independent judgment, strong decision making and problem solving for key processes.
- Experience working in On-premise Cloud and public virtual private Clouds.
- Experience with Powershell scripting.
- Experience with Windows Server OS Patching, using SCCM
- Experience with Configuration Management and Software deployments, using SCCM
- Experience with one or more of the following tools/agents preferred: ServiceNow, JIRA, CHEF/SCM, Kibana, Grafana, enterprise document management solution(s)
