JOB OVERVIEW:
The SQL Database Developer is primarily responsible for the development and maintenance of the Clinical Trial Payments (CTP) systems. Primary duties include analyzing, designing, development, debugging, and maintaining database system enhancements and/or new products employing Microsoft SQL Server stack of technologies, understanding the underlying business processes and data.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the development and maintenance of CTP database platform.
- Implements enhancements to the CTP database platform based on the product roadmap and prioritized requirements, including integration with other IQVIA applications.
- Designs new or modifies existing database structures to solve database processing problems.
- Performs database analysis and database design and development tasks of databases.
- Ensures that database design and code meet required operational standards and performance levels (as measured by reliability, response time, query execution time, etc.).
- Participates in database consultations and database design and code reviews.
- Develops optimized, reusable, and secure code utilizing stored procedures and functions.
- Identify and implement database code optimization, troubleshoot, and mitigate code defects.
- Designs ETL processes to acquire data from integrated systems for ingestion.
- Debugs and tunes SQL and ETL processes to ensure accurate and efficient movement of data.
- Tests and prepares SQL code and ETL processes for deployment to production environments.
- Assists the Business Analysts with technical requirements and provide effort estimates.
- Maintain revisions to systems technical documentation.
MINIMUM REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any IT related field
- 3+ years of in-depth experience in an SQL Server development environment
- Extensive hands-on experience in SQL Server development, ETL experience with custom coding.
- In-depth understanding of SQL Server database management architecture, transactional processing (OLTP) and ETL (Extract, transform, load) methodologies.
- Working experience with transactional database systems, and large volume data processing on SQL Server platform.
- In-depth knowledge of T-SQL (views, functions, and stored procedures) in SSMS tool and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) development in Visual Studio environment
- The knowledge of and experience utilizing SSIS building custom packages is a plus.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical clinical trial, financial, or IT development roles is a plus.
- Strong Microsoft Office skills; including advanced Excel skills.
- Ability to work in Agile development environment.
- Proven abilities to take initiative and be innovative.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Possess positive attitude and ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
