Job description

Our client is a large multinational company that supplies agricultural products such as animal feed, soy, fertilizers, as well as agricultural financing services, logistics, and maritime transportation. The company is currently in an expansion phase.

Reporting to the VP, General Counsel, Compliance Officer & Secretary, this professional will be responsible for provide day-to-day legal advice and support to the group in South America, covering all areas of corporate law, including negotiation of commercial contracts, labor issues, arbitration/litigation. The main responsibilities of this professional include: Develop and implement legal and compliance strategies aligned with the company's business objectives. Advise senior management on legal and compliance issues, providing strategic guidance. Manage relationships with external lawyers and ensure the efficiency of legal resources. Specialize in the area of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A), leading the legal due diligence process. Negotiate, review, and draft contracts and agreements related to M&A transactions. Oversee day-to-day operations of the legal department, including contractual matters, litigation, and regulatory issues. Develop and maintain an effective compliance program. Ensure the organization's adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies. Collaborate with other leaders and departments, such as human resources, finance, and operations, to ensure compliance across all areas of the company. Identify and assess legal and compliance risks associated with the company's operations. Develop strategies to mitigate risks and protect the organization's interests. Excellent opportunity for professionals with a strong academic background and proven experience in the corporate area, particularly in M&A and within the agriculture industry. Proactivity, leadership, strategic vision, ability to work in a fast-paced environment, strong negotiation skills, diplomacy, and excellent interpersonal relationship skills (both internally and externally) complete the profile. Proficiency in English is mandatory and Spanish proficiency desired but not necessary.
