As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, Economist Intelligence (EIU) helps clients prepare for opportunity, empowering them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries.
The Country Analysis division of EIU is looking for a Senior Analyst in the Latin America and the Caribbean Team, to be based in Sao Paulo or New York. You will be responsible for our economic and political analysis and forecasts for a portfolio of Latin American and Caribbean countries. You will also be expected to present EIU's views externally, both to the media and to clients. As Senior Analyst, you will additionally be responsible for training and mentoring junior staff, participating in special project work to enhance our products and services, and liaising with key stakeholders in our other divisions.

How will you contribute:
Produce standard-setting reports and analysis:
- Produce economic and political forecasts for selected countries in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Produce actionable insights for clients on key developments in the region as they happen
- Meet strict deadlines for EIU's various products and services
- Identify accurate and informative sources on events affecting the forecast
- Play an active role in producing original country and regional content work that develops the EIU view on the region
- Support the consulting and sales teams to deliver projects as required
Manage external contributors:
- Develop suitable external contributors to provide additional analysis of political and economic events occuring in the countries you cover
- Carry out a comprehensive edit of contributors’ input to ensure accuracy and quality
- Build a network of sources in academia, business and government to draw on for research purposes
Contribute to the regional team:
- Play an active role in team discussions on regional themes and overall development
- Support other members of the team when they need it
Promote The EIU views externally:
- Attend regular external conferences on regional themes, and actively look for opportunities to present at such conferences
- Present the EIU views to the media, including on TV, radio, and the press, including on short notice
- Have regular meetings with clients, presenting on both global and regional developments, and how they affect EIU's forecasts
The ideal skills for this role include:
- Excellent writing and editing skills in English.
- A minimum of 5 years experience.
- An ability to write quickly and incisively about issues of interest to our clients.
- Strong understanding of macroeconomics and experience of economic forecasting.
- Strong knowledge of Latin America.
- An interest in current political developments and knowledge of how they are likely to affect economic and economic policy trends.
- Master's degree or equivalent in Economics or related subject.
- Strong language skills in Spanish or Portuguese.
- The ability to juggle different tasks effectively.
- A knack for placing clients first and maintaining a commercial focus in everything you do.
