About the company
We are thrilled to announce two exciting new opportunities within our dynamic and growing design department at APO Group .
APO Group , the leading Pan-African communications consultancy and press release distribution service, is currently seeking a creative and talented Junior Designer to join the team as well as a pool of Freelance Design Contractors, to conduct adhoc work.
About the role
The ideal candidates will bring fresh and innovative design ideas to the table, demonstrating proficiency in graphic design and a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities: - Collaborate with the Head of Design and the Design Team Committee to produce high-quality visuals, presentations and similar, adhering to brand guidelines as provided.
- Assist in the creation of marketing collateral, social media graphics and interactive videos, high impact presentations and other visual materials.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions and contribute creative ideas for projects.
- Review and implement feedback from team members to improve designs.
About you
Requirements:
- A strong portfolio showcasing a variety of design projects.
- Proficiency in design software/s such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, UI/UX experience, ethical AI use and integration). Please detail your experience with each.
- Solid understanding of design principles, typography, and colour theory.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey design concepts and ideas.
For Junior Designers:
- A relevant degree or certification in graphic design or a related field and/or proven experience through referees and a showcase of your work through a digital and interactive portfolio.
- Specify your area of expertise (e.g., branding, web design, illustration, animation, etc).
For Freelance Design Contractors:
- A relevant degree or certification in graphic design or a related field and/or proven experience through referees and a showcase of your work through a digital and interactive portfolio.
- Specify your area of expertise (e.g., branding, web design, illustration, animation, etc).
- Please include information on your availability (days of week) and expected turnaround times, indicative rates per hour etc.
What's in it for you?
For Junior Designer - they will be put on a contract with a monthly remuneration package. This contract will have a 3 month probation period, after which it will become permanent position.
For Freelance Designers - they will form a pool of Freelance Designers who we call in for adhoc projects. Pay usually is on an hourly rate but will be discussed with each Freelancer directly.

Within the video, we would like you to also provide some insights into your approach to the following:
How you expect work to be briefed in on projects and how do you ensure a thorough understanding of the client's needs.
Additionally, we are interested in understanding your approach to incorporating and adhering to Corporate Identity (CI) Guidelines while maintaining creativity and flair in your design projects.
