Position Summary:

The Senior Genomics Sales Specialist (GSS) will be responsible for ensuring continuous Illumina business growth and partnerships with customers in Brazil.

As an overlay function to the local sales team, the GSS coordinates and executes strategies to communicate the value of genomics (both NGS & Microarrays). This includes demand generation at the individual lab level, while also demonstrating to larger stakeholders the value of Illumina solutions compared to competitors. They will act as an influencer and expert resources for customers and internal teams. The GSS is responsible for maximizing strategic business relationships, aligning the customer’s mission and strategic goals with their successful utilization of current or future Illumina solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Work with the Territory Account Managers and Inside Sales to organize activities that develop high-value, long-term profitable customer accounts through relationship building sales techniques.

• Assist in the development of customized territory plans for each sales territory to win new business, expand market share, and build upon existing programs.

• Support achievement of sales goals by helping to prospect for new customers, efficiently qualify opportunities, and empowering/ inspiring sales teams to approach challenges in innovative ways through creative problem-solving.

• Assist with workshops, seminar series, and other marketing activities, including compelling customer sales presentations on Illumina product lines at tradeshows/ conferences.

• Be deeply aware and always up-to-date on the market environment, latest industry trends, and competitive threats.

• Maintain effective relationships with internal product teams and marketing, providing Voice of Customer, while also communicating essential product knowledge to the field by highlighting the value of Illumina solutions.

• Read, understand, and clearly communicate to sales teams and customers the key findings from current & relevant scientific publications.

• Assist with workshops, conferences, seminar series and other marketing activities as required.

• Provide Illumina management with regular feedback on account status and key initiatives.

Requirements:

• BA/BS or MS degree in Life Sciences.

• Must be fluent in Portuguese & English. Spanish is a plus.

• Strong technical background in molecular biology and NGS technology is required.

• Experience in microarrays, bioinformatics, microbiology, and/or agrigenomics are desirable.

• 5+ years of work experience in the Life Science industry, preferably with sales.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, to clearly discuss technical information/solutions both internally and externally.

• Must be comfortable giving customer-facing presentations, often to large audiences.

• Well-developed professional and strategic sales skills with proven ability to develop and grow key accounts through networking at all levels of customer organizations.

• Highly self-motivated, adaptable, strategically minded, independent but also a team player, and willing to work in a fast-paced environment as a member of a multifunctional team.

• Excellent listening, time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

• Willing to spend ~50% of time in the field, while also strategically optimizing travel time for best return on investment.
