Role Summary:
The HESS specialist has the responsibility for overseeing and implementing various HESS programs, which include Health, Environment, Safety and Security. The development and alignment activities will be carried out by the HESS specialist in collaboration with the Global HESS Manager. The HESS specialist will be responsible for implementing and coordinating activities with the frontline HESS representatives at all bases and offices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversight and implementation of the Emergency Response Plans (ERP), including staff training, exercises, and coordination with the management team
- Oversight and implementation of the Drug and Alcohol Management Plan (DAMP) in collaboration with S&Q Management
- Manage and oversight base HESS representative activities including training, HESS inspections, HESS committee meetings, and support with HESS solutions of identified issues
- Manage and oversight base chemical management program (storing, and labeling chemical materials
- Conduct HESS audits as required by the SMS outputs
- Conduct HESS Investigations as determined in the risk management program
- Actively participate in risk management programs such as DSRM, Risk Assessment and MOC
- Develop and deliver HESS-related safety promotion material and training to frontline staff and management
- Provide Workplace, Health and Safety (WHS ) advice and solutions to ensure the delivery of safe operations at the frontline
- Develop and support environmental protection programs in line with ISO and company requirements
Required Qualifications ( Education, Qualifications, Certifications)
- Hold or working towards a Certificate IV in Work Health and Safety Disciplines Essential
- Auditor qualification to ISO 9000 or equivalent Essential
- Investigator qualification Desirable
Skills/Experience:
- Demonstrated experience delivering HESS related programs within an industry commensurate with aviation Essential Demonstrated experience as an auditor or Lead Auditor Essential
- Experience as part of or leading an Incident Investigation Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in Rotary Wing Offshore / SAR Air Operators environment Desirable
- Demonstrated experience in fixed wing charter, RPT or general aviation environments Desirable
- Experience with Safety Management Systems Desirable
- Strong knowledge of MS Office software suite Essential
- Knowledge of CASA (or similar) regulations applicable to an Air Operator Desirable
- Understanding of ISO 9000, 14000 & 45000 Desirable
