Job description
Mission:
The Ship manager’s main mission is to manage the performance of a vessel, ensure the safety of the vessel and its cargo as well as maximize the profitability of the voyage.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Plan for the discharging and loading of containers for vessels under his/her responsibility, guarantee safety conditions and follow up schedules.
- Prepare voyage schedules and manage Deadlines.
- Establish optimal loading and unloading of vessels plans and make sure that vessels voyages and port operations go smoothly.
- Ensure that all shore equipment for improving the productivity are available, in connection with Terminals and Agents.
- Ensure in close cooperation with Masters/Chief Officers, the safety conditions of vessels seaworthiness throughout the voyage.
Expected Results:
To ensure the efficient and cost-effective operation of vessels according to law, safety rules, company rules, and in order to maximize vessel performance.
- Deal with all COD, OOG and IMO requests.
- In connection with the dedicated teams, monitor and manage special loadings: dangerous cargo (IMO), Reefers, Out of Gauge (OOG, Breakbulk) following the international regulations (IMDG code / ISM) and the Group / Line's instructions.
- Deal with cargo segregation and guarantee that safety rules are being followed and vessels are seaworthy.
- Evaluate feasibility of Changes of Destinations (COD) according to their position on board, in order to attend the request of sales teams, Logistics Department or partners.
Communication with HO and Agents:
- Participate in the development of statistics and ensure the policy of bunkers consumption.
- Validate Port Call Reports and Terminal Departure Reports (PCR and TDR) sent by Agents and Terminals.
- Suggest solutions and contingency plans whenever necessary to HO and align actions to be taken.
Expected Results:
Ensure that the action plans and company's policy are duly followed.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Degree: Degree required in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, and related areas.
- IT and System Requirements: Good level of Microsoft Office and expertise level of internal systems required.
- Language: English (fluent).
- Experience: Minimum 5 years experience working in the field.
