Functioning under moderate supervision, the Shift Supervisor will work with the nurse manager and assistant nurse manager in providing
leadership and operational support on assigned shifts to the department. The Shift Supervisor is a subject matter expert and demonstrates competence with nursing process to provide patient care and patient/family teaching in the ED environment. The Supervisor will hold team members accountable by ensuring adherence to appropriate federal, state and local regulations, professional standards, hospital policies, procedures and guidelines. Patients served may include neonate through adult-geriatric.

Demonstrates understanding of department workflow, daily operations and goals of service line.

Ability to maintain environment that promotes staff productivity, satisfaction and efficiency.
Ability to problem-solve, manage conflict and difficult situations

Qualifications
To qualify for the position, the candidate must possess:

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing.
currently licensed as an RN in the State of Maryland; successful completion of required hospital, nursing and unit orientation, including but not limited to BCLS certification.
Must demonstrate ability to learn and use computer systems in order to manage patient information.
Must demonstrate effective interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Three to five years' experience in the Emergency Department with demonstrated understanding and support for the model of care delivery.
