Introduction
Under the supervision of the Vice President of Sales, in Canada, the Senior Account Manager is tasked with overseeing and expanding retail sales, wholesale, and food services for our client. This pivotal role necessitates close collaboration with the Canadian Sales, Marketing, and meat processing operations teams to achieve shareholder expectations in terms of growth, returns, customer service, and upholding company values.
Responsibilities:
Sales and Marketing:
- Collaborates with the Sales, Procurement, and Marketing teams to formulate an annual sales plan aligned with developed sales strategies and, when applicable, long-term marketing plans.
- Develops customer-specific retail and wholesale sales business plans, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, adherence to statutory requirements, and timely completion.
- Contributes to planning, developing, issuing, and delivering promotional and sales communication materials.
Customer & Distribution Relationship Management:
- Maintains and strengthens mutually beneficial relationships with major retail, wholesale, and food service customers, working towards strategic supply contracts.
- Identifies prospective customers and distribution channels, actively developing relationships for profitable and sustainable business.
- Maintains a strong market intelligence network to stay informed about competitive activities and customer developments.
Logistics and Transportation:
- Coordinates with the Transportation and Logistics team to ensure timely, reliable deliveries.
- Monitors regional storage centers' inventory levels and ensures proper product rotation.
Procurement Plan:
- Works closely with the Procurement team to review and confirm monthly and seasonal inventory replenishment orders in line with the annual sales plan and shifting customer demand.
- Keeps the Procurement team informed of planned and new feature/ad activity requiring additional product.
Supplier Relations: Communicates regularly with major suppliers to stay informed about current market events and trends.
Performance Effectiveness:
- Achieves financial, customer, product, and business goals in the retail, wholesale, and food services market on a monthly and annual basis.
- Reviews accounts receivables, ensuring prompt payments to reduce company exposure to bad debts.
- Prepares monthly territory reports and comments on customer products versus plan and market activity.
Business Development:
- Identifies opportunities for business growth and collaborates with the Marketing team to execute new product opportunities.
- Works closely with the Sales team and maintains a network for the identification, analysis, and conversion of new business opportunities.
- Makes recommendations to pursue and convert such opportunities as appropriate.
Requirements
- Understanding of selling fresh and frozen attribute-based premium grass-fed protein (beef, lamb, venison, mutton, and goat) is an asset.
- Fluency in both English and French
- Minimum of 5 years in retail, wholesale, and food services sales with a focus on developing and implementing sales and strategy.
- Experience in a significant North American or Global Food Services Industry manufacturer and distributor, with a preference for international supply and distribution expertise.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, collaboration, influencing, and negotiation skills.
- Thorough understanding of the retail, wholesale, and food services business, including setting sales budgets, creating sales and marketing strategies, and executing forward sales plans. Ability to assist in creating promotional campaigns across all media and platforms .
- Demonstrated skills in sales planning and execution with a strong commercial acumen.
- Ability to analyze key drivers, opportunities, and competitive advantages to develop and execute strategies.
- High degree of expertise in contract negotiation, structuring, setting, and managing sales quota and revenue goals.
- Understanding of and a track record in securing supply to ensure fulfillment of customer needs.
- Open to taking on additional responsibilities assigned by the V.P. Sales Canada to support the achievement of annual and strategic business goals.
- Customer-centric focus, willing to work in the office Monday to Friday, with flexibility for travel to meet customers or visit stores or warehouses.
